In Sharing Shadow Secrets, Serena Pier delivers an emotional and steamy romance that is both thoughtful and refreshing. I love how this book fits in with the rest of The High Five series! It wonderfully interweaves the series throughout the book, bringing the High Five world full-circle.

One of the most notable and praiseworthy aspects of this book is its sensitive and thoughtful handling of delicate subjects, including trauma and addiction. Brandon's journey is not just a side note but is explored with careful and educational insight, showing how his past and current choices shape him without defining his entire character.

The story shines through its strong character development and engaging dynamics. The chemistry between the characters is palpable, with their connection building beyond playful banter into a deeper, emotional bond. Taylor is a strong "girl boss" who knows what she wants, and her relationships with Brandon and Kyle are complex and emotional. The fiery banter and brattiness is my favorite part of this series and Shadow Secrets in no exception. I’m such a sassy snarky person myself and I’ve never felt so seen!

I do feel like the second half is sped up a bit too fast IMHO. While the early sections build a solid foundation for the characters and their relationships, the latter half accelerates rapidly toward the conclusion. It was just a little difficult for me to understand how the characters went from boyfriend/girlfriend to throuple at what felt like the drop of a hat.

All in all, Serena Pier has created a memorable and emotional story that offers valuable representation and thoughtful storytelling. This is a must-read for fans of emotional and steamy romances who appreciate seeing important real-world issues handled with care.
