Yikes. I really love the cover design for this book and series. I like ice hockey romances. And yet this is like not a book or series I want to read. I recommend the Vancouver Storm series instead of this.

The cover felts like the best feature.

I was tempted to DNF multiple times but just wanted to keep going. The book is WAY too long.

The dialogue is unrealistic and full of love cliches and what I’d expect from declarations on daytime dramas from the 90s. The humour feels vanilla.

The vibes feel suburban at times. I mentally gagged at the idea of a wall display with family photos and a word “family” scrawled in wood hanging overtop of the photos.

The romance was boring or icky. The love bombing made me uncomfortable. sexist remarks and gestures were brushed off. And the MMC just isn’t appealing.

The sex scenes were boring. So so boring. And way too many.

The last act breakup drama was ridiculous. A star athlete for a team with means would have assistants and access to professional support and advice for dealing with publicity issues and people who want to bribe or blackmail. They would also have physio and meal planning. The constant consumption of junk food is so unrealistic and unappealing. Also, Oreos taste bad to me so I don’t get the fixation in this book.
