The Arbornaut: A Life Discovering the Eighth Continent in the Trees Above Us by Meg Lowman

5.0

What an amazing woman, succeeding in spite having to battle rampant sexism and sexual harassment! There's lots of scientific information in the book, but it was presented in an interesting way. And the alarm bells she rings about environmental degradation echo what I've read in The Sixth Extinction. It's heartbreaking, but she's fighting, fighting, fighting to fix the world. I'm going to donate to her foundation (https://treefoundation.org/).

She's also damn awesome in mentoring people of diverse backgrounds, and, amazingly, disabled people, too! It was so heartening to hear how she made it possible for scientists in wheelchairs to be able to participate in becoming arbornauts.

A great story by an amazing human being and brilliant scientist.
