The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson

5.0

Not much to say other than it's just so good. In the 5 days I have been reading it I've heard two mentions of Jekyll and Hyde (not referring to the book itself but of the dual personality which has become engrained in our everyday speech) and that is evidence enough of its greatness. Other than the occasional allusion or reference to a 19th century noun, RLS makes for a simple and yet eloquent read that discards fluff and embraces the English language. It's the type of story that every writer dreams of writing: one that creates a legacy the likes of which has rarely been seen in English literature and language.
