I want to first start off by admitting I am not the target audience of this book, but it was gifted to me, and I wanted to give it a fair shot.
I also want to start with the fact that I had some fun reading it! ... But altogether, it had too many little things that added up for me. I could get behind a handful of kids surviving the crash, and I was on board for their fight for survival all the way through planning their escape with only minor irks, but it fell apart for me at the end. I think I was most disappointed with the multiple uses of deus ex machina (e.g. The wind storm and the "off-screen" Harris snake). It was underwhelming for how promising the lead up was.
