Love in the City by Jen Morris

4.0

Alex is getting over a break-up and the relentless disappointment of her parents by moving to NYC and pursuing a career as a writer. Amid the mayhem of the big city, she finds friends, work, and even a grumpy single dad neighbor struggling with his own family drama.

Michael was a great love interest, a good dad trying his best to focus on his son. The secondary characters (roommate, gay boss, elderly neighbor, long-distance sister, and even the nemisis) were all really great characters, and I definitely enjoyed the allies won and battle fought for Alex.

And the steamy scenes were excellent!

What I didn't like was Alex herself so much. She drinks a lot, and several major plot points depended on her getting so drunk she doesn't remember things. She can also be very unprofessional in situations where I just wanted to smack her and say "ASK FOR WHAT YOU WANT!".

There is lovely prose, and the reader cant help but fall in love WITH New York alongside Alex.

I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.
