Heartstopper Volume 4 by Alice Oseman
5.0
Okay, this is fantastic like the rest, but I would say it’s also the most heavy.
I really love how the series balances a fluffy romance with struggles of being queer and, specifically, being a queer teenage boy. And while the series has dealt with topics such as identity struggles, bullying, forced outings and homophobia, this one centres eating disorders in a really nuanced way.
I love the transparency around the topic and shows that love is not enough. It’s real and raw and great and I was surprised, but happy to see that as a storyline.
