Orlando by Virginia Woolf

This was my introduction to Virginia Woolf, who I already adored before this book, even without reading any works of hers. I fell in love with her just through the little snippets of her letters, little quotes of hers, and realized that this here is the author that is close to my heart and that I should be introduced to. However, now I understand that starting with "Orlando" probably wasn't the best introduction to her the reader could have.
I'm generally a slow reader, still this took me a while. Used to reading fiction with lots of dialogues and events following each other, this was very confusing and I kept on waiting for something to happen, still it wouldn't. This is a wave of words and feelings. Just a mixture of everything and nothing. The language was extremely beautiful, even though confusing. Overall, I enjoyed the read, though it was hard to comprehend, and I kept expecting something to happen, kept on expecting her to explain everything, put everything on their places and tell me this means this and that means that. It's a different type of work though and a different type of author. Woolf really wants the reader to analyze the text themselves and understand it in their own way, which is not exactly what I am used to. In the end, it was a pleasure to finally get to know Virginia Woolf and I can't wait for us to get intimate.
