Thornhill by Pam Smy

I was able to read this book thanks to NetGalley.

This book was downright creepy. I highly enjoyed that half the story focused around the diary of a young girl in the past, while the story told in the future was just illustrations. Mary's plight is heartbreaking, and the story really draws you in and keeps you hooked until that final moment when their two stories truly intersect. The dolls and puppets also add a whole other level of eerie, particularly to the illustrations. This book is intended for middle grade readers, but I believe it could be enjoyed by adults, as well. It's a quick, spooky read.
