This is a great book for older teens to read for a strong example of overcoming peer pressure and standing by your morals. I love Val's relationships, and found them true to life in their differences from each other. From boyfriends, friends, and classmates. The only thing that I felt this book was lacking was a complete separation of the parents. I realize that teens are mostly interested in the opinions and thoughts of their friends, but it seemed like the parents played no role in her decision making on some pretty major life changing choices.

Overall this is a good book, there is no bad language or inappropriate scenes, but the topic is THE topic, including slang words and innuendo, I would recommend with caution.
