Ethan Joella is cemented as an auto buy author for me after this one. I loved his debut “A Little Hope,” but this one ran away with my heart.

Their lives are separate, but all three are grieving big losses in their lives in the same PA small town: Chuck is a grieving widower faced with traveling to his vacation home for the first time since his wife passed away, Ella is holding out hope that her ex husband will bring their daughter back to her safely, and Kristin who is reeling from the murder of her father after a robbery. Different backgrounds and ages, but these three connect in unexpected and beautiful ways.

While this book deals with grief, it’s also filled with so much hope. I haven’t read any Christmas books this year but this winter novel about the kindness of strangers got me in the holiday spirit. I love how Joella writes women, which is very rare for me to praise for a male author! I can’t wait to read what he writes next and highly recommend this for fans of character driven literature.
