A Conjuring of Light by V.E. Schwab
5.0
~~edit 01/30/22~~
I don't have much more to say other than I love this book, I love V.E. Schwab, and I can't wait to see what she does in Threads of Power ([b:Untitled|36140857|Untitled (Threads of Power, #1)|V.E. Let me just say - I live for this book, and this book lives for V.E. Schwab's reputation.

"And come back."
"Don't worry, I will. Once I've seen it."
"Seen what?"
He smiled. "Everything."
We love a good ciRcULaR eNdiNg, don't we... :-)
This book is the *ideal* finale to any trilogy - or series at all for that matter. It has such a huge conflict, and an epic boss battle, swoon-worthy romance that doesn't dominate the plot, legendary banter, and KELL.
Kell is just my perfect little cinnamon protagonist who has me all smiling to myself like an idiot. Lila is my fierce, bad-a thief who makes me want to read about pirates, or write about pirates, or - you know - literally be a pirate. Rhy gives me such sunshiny vibes. He has to be one of THE MOST *iconic* characters in this whole series, and his energy is literally everything. And Alucard (lol literally all these names except Lila's have red underlined bc my browser doesn't recognize them). A. Lu. Card. He definitely gives me a solid mixture of Lila and Rhy vibes and I just LOVE HIM TOO WHY VICTORIA AM I SO ATTACHED. And Holland is just my other favorite who is just confusing in my mind, and I could not tell you what I like about him, but I just do...you know?
One this I love about Schwab's books (and especially this series) is that her villains are so dimensional. ~~ADSOM spoilers, ye have been warned~~ Holland was so sad and lonely and (you know) a slave to evil, albino twins. So half the fandom is pretty indecisive about him. One other example I love is that the Lord Sol-in-Ar was kind of painted as this kinda evil guy for a lot of the book (a threat to the throne at least), but then.
This world that Schwab created just reminds me of everything I love (Elemental magic, pirates, a tad romance, action, etc. etc.). I would highly recommend to anyone wanting to get into the fantasy genre, as it certainly was the bridge for me.
V.E. Schwab is truly amazing.

Spoiler
when it came down to rEgiCiDe, he was still siding with Maxim, which many authors would not be bold enough to do. That probably doesn't make sense, but whateverThis world that Schwab created just reminds me of everything I love (Elemental magic, pirates, a tad romance, action, etc. etc.). I would highly recommend to anyone wanting to get into the fantasy genre, as it certainly was the bridge for me.
