To Be Taught, If Fortunate by Becky Chambers

5.0

Chambers has created a compellingly plausible world of space travel to exo-planets, and then uses this to geek out about life sciences, and about the reasons we continue to explore, even when our own world is falling apart.

Its not my favourite of her works (perhaps because I'm not actually a scientist, more likely because it feels less important than "Record of a Spaceborn Few"), but her enjoyment shines through, and it's a very enjoyable read because of it.

I do think we need more sci-fi which points us to a better world in which we avoid an inciting terrestrial calamity though. Please?
