Chasing Fire
by Nora Roberts
3.5 stars. I enjoyed it overall, but so much of this book had me rolling my eyes. I also didn’t expect most of it to be a murder mystery. Nothing from the description gave that away and it was half the book, but I liked the drama and mystery it brought.
Maybe I’m just not into these kind of romances, but so much of the beginning had me thinking this was written in the 90s or something with how insistent Gull was from the bat about wanting to sleep with Rowan.(this was written in 2011). Like to her face, I just couldn’t imagine that in a professional setting, and I work around firefighters a lot but maybe I could be wrong.
I’m a slow burn person, so just personally it started too quick, no fault to the author. I did overall liked the characters, but Rowan could be too hard headed and super “I’m an independent woman” (to the point of childish), while Gull annoyed me every time he openly analyzed how Rowan was feeling and was overconfident in himself.
Decently fun read that got me excited for fire camp again and reminded me why I didn’t stay with trail crews. Those fire jumpers are tough to the core.
