A House in the Sky by Amanda Lindhout
5.0

This book is utterly inspiring, there is no other way to put it. Amanda travels the world and finds herself in Somalia where she and a fellow traveller are kidnapped and held for over 400 days... you can imagine what a woman would go through. The book can be difficult in some places, but Amanda's outlook on her situation is what keeps you reading. She manages to take each day in stride and find things to be thankful for. I am truly inspired by her outlook - at the end she speaks of her path to forgiveness and I was a crying mess. This book will make you appreciate what you have, and if I take anything from it, it will be to be more grateful and not to take anything for granted! This is a must read!
I read this book on CD and Amanda read this herself - made it that much harder to read knowing she herself went through everything, but certainly more powerful.
