The Snow Child by Eowyn Ivey
5.0

this novel is certainly a more subdued and subtle child that speaks so dearly to me

grief and the loss of a child aside, the theme that resonated most was the beauty and force that is nature. how apt it is to read it now, as winter passes us by!

the mountains, that which I hold so closely in my heart, was so beautifully written. I knew exactly what the author was trying to convey with her descriptions and I believe that anyone who’d immersed themselves in the wilderness would agree.

I could almost feel the caress of the mountain breeze, hear the soft crunch of earth beneath my feet amid the scent of the bush. but alas, i too, have succumbed to the rat race that is life. as I fumble around for my place in this world, a part of me would always yearn for the wilderness and each multi-day hike assures me of this.

but also, kinda envious of faina. wish I could be this feral.
