The Stockings Were Hung by Cassie Sweet

4.0

3.5 Stars ~ I’m a sucker for a good second chance story, and this one satisfied. Hill is a Seasonal-grump thanks to some old relationship woes, and Drew seems to be a bit of a chronic non-communicator. Cassie Sweet gives us the opportunity to see these two give their relationship a second try after a bad break up and some very hurt feelings.

Cassie Sweet writes some wonderful characters in this short. They’re sympathetic and likeable, and man, is it easy to enter into their heartache. The plot is solid, and I really liked the backstory. We also get a fun secondary character in a cousin/best friend, plus a (bonus!) truly awesome dog. To be honest, I would have loved to see more of all these characters; they’re exceptional.

This is a delightful holiday short, and its hopeful ending gave me fuzzy, seasonal feels. If the rest of the offerings are like this one, I can’t wait to see what else this holiday novella season has in store for readers.
