“Once upon a time, in a land long since burned to ash, there lived a young princess who loved her kingdom …”

Words can not describe my feelings right now. Kingdom of Ash was the perfect ending to a equally perfect series. Sarah J Maas has done it. She truly broke me. I have never cried over a book series ended, that's how much this series has impacted me. It was everything I wanted to see in the final book, it was utterly heartbreaking. This book had me in so much tears, it's unbelievable.

From here, spoilers will be mentioned, read at your own risk.

“Let’s make this a fight worthy of a song.”

The characters was once again epic. Each had grown more and more and developed into something remarkable, especially Aelin. She is by far my favorite character in the book and my all time favorite heroine. She is still the same assassin we say from Throne of Glass but so much more. She is a fighter throughout.

Dorian, my king. I'm so thankful that he didn't die. If Maas killed my beloved character that I would actually riot. I loved that Dorian could shape shift and helped win the war, not being a weak prince that everyone originally thought. However, I did wanted to see why his power was so raw. I don't know if it was just me, but I felt like Maas didn't showcase this enough.

Manon, my queen, deserves much better. All the pain she had to endure, tore my already broke heart into pieces. She deserves happiness and more. She needs more appreciation all together. However, what the hell was that reunion with Elide? Maas give me something better. She is the definitely the character that has developed the most. Going from a cold blooded killer to someone who can acknowledge her own feelings.

Aedion's character was a little annoying to me in Kingdom of Ash. I know death was literally on his doorstep but I wanted my sassy Aedion back.

Fenrys absolutely broke my heart. He stuck by Aelin in her darkest times, despite the blood-oath to Maeve. I'm so glad, Aelin saved him. Needless to say, everyone broke my heart.

I'm in love with Chaol even more. He let Yrene be the person she wanted, every  single time. He doesn't deserve all the hate. He deserves so much more.

Gavriel did not deserve that. I know that Sarah J Maas could save everyone but why? He reunited for one or two pages. Seriously? I badly wanted to see scenes between him and his son after the war. He didn't even get a proper goodbye with his son.

Neyrsn still felt like a fill-in character. Her POV was pointless and I didn't think they was necessary. They didn't actually add anything to the story. Don't get me wrong, she is a likable character and I was happy that she found happiness but I didn't practically care if she died or not.

Yrene, you masterpiece. To kill a Valg King whist pregnant! you legend.

Additionally, I felt like Maeve was going to get a redemption arc, should've of got one. I don't know why but I actually felt sorry for her in those moments in Morath. I truly believed that she was capable of changing. But, of course, that didn't happen.

“And far away, across the snow-covered mountains, on a barren plain before the ruins of a once-great city, a flower began to bloom.”

The only thing that annoyed was Nox Owen. He appeared for two pages and that's it. I wanted to see the reunion between him and Aelin, to see him join her court. Furthermore, I wanted to see more of him in general. What was the point in being him back if not having him be in the entire book. The late King of Adarlan made more of a appearance.

I know many people were crying with the Thirteen but I didn't. I loved the twelve witches that sacrificed themselves and yes I was sad for them but I was more upset over the fact that Abraxos nearly died.

“Do you know the story of the queen who walked through worlds?”

Can we just take a moment to remember that Aelin is only twenty years old and it plays out over a course of year... it's crazy. They have witnessed so much death and gone through so much trauma that it blows my mind. Sarah J Maas was amazing with this aspect. Aelin seemed so much older then she actually was and the series seemed like the beginning to the end was more than a one year course.

“Nameless is my price."

This quote was unbelievable. There was no way that I could of figured this plot out. Dorian's father name...this scene was so heartbreaking. I absolutely hated the King but when he saved Dorian and took his place, it actually had me in tears. To go through all those years without a name but to have remember it long enough to call your son that very name.

“Who do you wish to be?”

The brother bond between Chaol and Dorian was so precious. Even though Dorian no longer has a blood family, he has a family with Chaol. A brotherly bond that tears streaming down my face. Furthermore, that Dorian is an uncle to Chaol and Yrene's baby. Lets also appreciate that moment when they finally reunited and Chaol ran for his King, his brother.

“We come to honor a friend.”

One of my favourites scenes has to be when Elide galloped to save Lorcan. If that isn't true love then I don't know what is.

A better review will probably come when I can actually gather my thoughts and feelings. RIP me.
