Loved this short story collection. I really enjoyed how the stories interlink, not always in an obvious way at first, but you begin to see glimpses of characters and scenes from the previous story and that little flash of recognition is fun. It also reveals just a little bit more about that character or shows them from a different perspective. The way the stories lead on from one another is also reflected in the way the weird and macabre elements tend to amp up towards the end of the book. Always the stories are tinged with just the right level of the surreal. It’s the imagery though that really stands out - the overturned truck spreading ripe tomatoes over the road, the abandoned post office full to the brim with kiwis or the garden that produces an uncanny number of hand shaped carrots.
