This is Julia Connors best book yet. I absolutely love the Boston Rebels series and Colt and Jules were just perfect. This is a quick-paced read. AKA I read it one sitting. This book handled flashbacks so well. Sometimes they can be jarring or overly detailed, but not with Fake Shot. The few flashbacks gave so much context and made the storyline that much stronger. This is one of those books that I know I wont shut up about until everyone reads it.

Our FMC, Jules, is everything. I don’t think I’ve ever read a character who is so nuanced. While her family portrays her as being brash and always blurting out whatever it is she’s thinking, she’s actually so much more reserved than everyone(but Colt) gives her credit for. Her entire life has changed after the last few months(and books) as her older brother moved out of their brownstone to move in with his fiance and her daughters. Her older sister and nephew moved out to be with Graham’s dad. And now she’s by herself in this big house, running her company, Our House, and trying to figure out how to navigate life when the people closest to her don’t need her anymore.

Colt, the MMC, is the goalie for the Rebels. He’s spent his entire career in Boston and that’s how he became friends with Jameson(Jules’ brother).
He has the reputation for being a player-a new girl in his bed in every city. But like every good redemption story, he’s got a good reason for never getting attached.

This couple is everything I hoped they’d be.
