It did take me a bit to remember what happened in the last volume when I started reading this. I didn't remember why she was agonizing over the showcase, so the tension I was likely supposed to feel for Coco was lost on me.
Either way, I really love this series. Even with all the dark sub-themes, this is a really cute series. The characters are lovable, the world is fascinating. The magic is really cool, even in it's simplicity.
I do kind of wish I hadn't started reading this while it's still so new, only so I didn't have to wait so long between reading volumes.
