As I understand it this was intended to be the last in the series. This definitely explains why Shepard goes all out to turn everything we thought we knew on its head.
The easiest thing to say about this is that after getting through the first seven books - some of which are more appealing than others - Wanted is a fitting end to the series. Coming to this so much later I do wonder how Shepard then managed to spin the series out for a further eight books!
In Wanted we get a much creepier feel. Some questions are answered, while there are lots more raised. It's safe to say that things don't go quite as we expect,and there's a dramatic climax that still manages to leave us hanging.
