So, I'm making it a point to read more of the classic well known novels. Funny enough, I've never actually seen the Jaws movie (fixing that tonight) so this entire story was brand new for me!

The idea of the story is an interesting one, but I wasn't terrified at all reading the book. I honestly felt like every single person who died was either doing something stupid or wasn't being watched by someone else properly. Mind you, nobody expects to be eaten by a shark, but I think quite a few deaths could have been avoided.

As far as the rest of the content, there were way too many curse words and some other stuff, deliberately cheating on a spouse, that really bothered me. Also, there were a lot of big words used that felt very forced into the story.

As far as a favorite character, it'd have to be Brody, the chief of police. He's the only one truly trying to keep everyone safe throughout the book, even at the point of risking his job, and life, to do so.

I definitely think the book could have been better, however, I do see how the story became a big movie hit. It's really interesting and not something we encounter regularly!
