Haunted Destiny: A Paranormal, Thrilling Suspense Novel by Heather Graham

4.0

Jude McCoy is working the FBI's New Orleans office when a woman is found dead and it is believed to be the work of the Archangel Killer, who has murdered woman in several states. At the crime scene he spots a suspicious looking man and, with Jackson Crow, he follows this man to the cruise ship Destiny. They are sure he boarded, but the can't find him. At the same time, Alexi Cromwell who performs in the ship's piano bar, receives a warning from a man she doesn't know.

The two agents board the ship just before sailing. They go undercover, but Alexi quickly figures out who they are and why they are there. Like so many of the members of the Krewe, she sees and speaks with ghosts. She introduces Jude to all of the ship's ghosts, even enlisting their assistance.

As they race to find the killer before he can strike again, even Mother Nature seems to have turned against them and there is jeopardy everywhere.

This is a classic Heather Graham romantic suspense. I really liked both Jude and Alexi. While they have history and baggage in their life, they are not Dickensian characters weighed down by their past. It gives them depth without angst and I appreciated that. Good suspense should be enough angst for a reader.
