Okay so the two main male characters are basically Merle and Daryl Dixon. The author basically admits as much.
But this is NOT a bad thing. In fact, it's a pretty good thing. The main character is tough without being a Mary Sue. All the characters have depth and flaws. The zombies don't show up until the end of the book but that is okay. I really enjoyed this book and look forward to the second one.
