Fans of Twilight will like this book. It has these things in common:
Teenage girl lives in woodsy northern location and is fascinated by monsters - namely werewolves; bitten by monsters but doesn't turn into one; in love with and obsessed with certain teenage monster; teenage girl has ditsy uninvolved parents (well, Charlie's okay in Twilight); teenage girls does all the cooking; teenage girl has girl friend who is a photographer; monster hangs out in her bedroom every night; teenage monster tries to be gentlemanly and control himself with girl (does not have Edward's control); teenage girl drives old truck; young monsters are taken in by older father figure monster. There's more, but that's enough.
There are plenty of differences also. I thought that the werewolf transformation process in this book makes more sense than full moons; they change according to temperature. I like how the story is told from girl and werewolf chapters with the current temperature starting every chapter. The story draws you in from the first page and has some beautifully descriptive writing. I plan to continue reading the series.
Definitely for older teens because of the romance level and somewhat gory werewolf stuff, but you can tell that the author left out the bad language that so many teen books seem to throw in wherever they can, and I appreciate that.
