Tough read. I found the context of the book and what was happening to the characters deeply disturbing. A teacher abusing students shouldn’t be utilized for plot in this way, in my opinion. I don’t think it was the authors intention but there was a definite normalization and romanticizing of the teacher/student affair. Also, the plot was too far fetched and unbelievable. Unlike the housemaid, the twist in this book felt like a rushed attempt to end the story without really tying the story together in a realistic way.
