this is an exceptional memoir and i found so much of it not only informative, because i'm not super familiar with the quran, but also moving, reflective, touching, humorous, and relatable. the way lamya is able to connect these stories to pivotal moments in her life is remarkable. as a queer person i can definitely relate to the identity piece, not being able to fit in, feeling scared people will reject or hate you, and trying to find identity and community. 

it's a book everyone should read. i absolutely can't recommend it enough. and i'll leave it there since it's a 5 star read and i can't normally form coherent thoughts about why 5 star books are so great. so - read it and find out.
