This has been the best Halo novel I've read so far. For being Joseph Staten's first novel it isn't terrible. Like the first four Halo novels, this book lacked characters that I cared about. The only thing that made this better than the previous books is the glimpse you get into the world of the Covenant and the start of the Human-Covenant War.
