Burning the Midnight Oil by Ashley James

Hands down, one of my favorite books.

He’s in my head, and he won’t leave.
Both of them are in my head and I hope they never leave.

I can’t explain how or why (in a logical form), but I loved every second of this book!!! This is a series I think everyone should read or at least give a chance. The found family aspect gets me every time and I love it!

Something about Boone Stanton makes me feel out of control in the very best and most confusing way.”

The tropes are what drew me in but the characters is what made me stay.

Both Boone and Grady are complicated, and it’s kind of what tied them together. At first Grady and Boones dynamic is civil, they are brother in laws. Until they aren’t and everything’s changed… now they see each other differently.

“I kind of wish things were different because it feels easy and comfortable exploring this new discovery with you.”

One thing I truly loved was how slow it was. Both characters explored their feelings (Boone specifically) and didn’t rush into things. Grady always had feelings for Boone, but never pushed him. He allowed Boone the chance to figure out who he was and was willing to see if any part of that involved a future with him.

In that moment, with the feel of his lips moving against mine, it was a new reality, one where I could see what it would be like if Boone was mine.

These characters are mature and driven and every bit of wholesome. While their love was somewhat forbidden they made it work and didn’t care. I highly recommend this book it sweet, steamy, and so heartfelt.

Boone, Grady, and Miss Suzy Q are my favorite little family!!!
