Unless you are already a fan of Lois McMaster Bujold or the Chalion books, I think you might have a difficult time getting through this book. There were plenty of times I wished we could get through the exposition and get to the plot of the story. I skimmed through many parts near the end although I enjoyed the climatic finale. But overall a good reading experience as I still love the World of the Five Gods and Bujold has a talent for creating incredible characters.
