A lot darker, especially in the latter half of the book, than what I had expected with my limited previous experience of only "Guards! Guards!"; but again filled to the brim with colourful and amazing characters that stick with you even if they show up for scantly a page or two, and new and more perfect ways of describing the City that make a vivid imprint in your mind's eye! I am loving the development of certain characters and I hope to have not seen the last of some of the ensamble cast!
