This was a great book that speaks to the journey of mulatto women. I enjoyed the characters as they navigated in this tough time. However, I wanted more from this book it felt like a recounting of a tale instead of us following Pheby in her trials. I wanted more emotion and depth, but everything was sped over. I did enjoy the writing but I wish this book was longer.
