I did enjoy this book. However, it wasn’t ground-breaking or astonishing as I was lead to believe on social media. I understand completely why people fell in love with this book. But for me, I didn’t feel a deep connection with the characters and the book stayed fairly static and slow until the last 50 pages where things got JUICY.
I LOVED the focus on politics and themes of political intrigue and revenge. The coronation scene reminded me of a certain excerpt from Game of Thrones and gave me chills! Romance exists in this book as a subplot and Jude comes across as a strong, female lead to do what is right to ensure the future of the Crown is in the right hands.
I don’t have much more to say other than, yes, this book was good and it read well. Social media promises that Book 2 and 3 are better so I’m still willing to give this series a shot!
