Goddamn I'm sat; i agree that the love triangle shit was unnecessary, but I've seen ppl upset at the brutality depicted.. it is literally a book on war, it's completely fine if thats not something you want to read, but you probably shouldn't complain when something about violence.. is violent.
Anyways, i thought she did a brilliant job, i do believe the characters are made to follow the plot more than the plot and the characters having a mutual interaction, but i don't believe this is as strong a problem as it is in Babel, the characters are less 2D here, not quite like real people but definitely closer, possibly due to having a whole trilogy to flesh them out
