Whispers and the Roars
by K. Webster
Great potential in this story - poorly executed.
The story doesn’t feel “flushed out”, it felt rushed and, at times, cringey. I felt disappointed after reading because the plot could have been great, if the characters weren’t so unlikeable and again, cringey. When Kady’s alters fight in her mind and Bones refers to himself as a “bad motherfucker” (cringe) and a Beastie Boys soundtrack plays (cringe) while he uses a machine gun (cringe).
I also felt that the author did a lot of “telling” the reader about the characters and their relationships vs. “showing” the reader.
