I liked this book, but there were a few things that held it back from being 4 stars for me. Some of the conflict seems very easily resolved when compared to the relatively slow pace of the book. The main characters also can become tedious, though they are well developed and interesting. Sometimes the book also gives me the sense that I had the tools to figure out a particular mystery, but looking back I don’t think the clues were written in particularly well.

I will continue the series as I’ve heard it gets better, and overall I would recommend this book for its world building and interesting characters.
