Burned Dreams
by Neva Altaj
I had been waiting, impatiently, for this book to come out and sadly I was disappointed. I think it was because I didn’t really feel the connection between Alessandro and Ravenna until like 60% into the book. I understand that the situation Ravi was in was probably why they didn’t connect that much at the beginning but c’mon they spent every day together and barely communicated so it didn’t feel authentic. Also, I didn’t like how the revenge for his wife was dealt at the end. For eight years, that was what was most important and in a day he does a 180 and doesn’t care anymore. I get him not living in the past and moving on but what rubbed me the wrong way was when he killed him he didn’t mention her, only Ravi. He could’ve said that it was payback for what he did to the two women he loved. I don’t like when authors put emphasis on this love the mmc had for a previous woman that died and then diminish it for the sake of the fmc. As long as they make it clear the fmc is not a replacement or second to the ghost of the previous woman then they don’t need to make him completely forget about his revenge or the love he had. Just make it less of a priority. I think this had potential but felt short to me. I’m curious about who the mmc for the next book will be so I’m looking forward to that one. Hopefully I enjoy that one more
