spoiler (not really): the pining and yearning and unrequited love have all reached a new level in this book
do I think Cassandra Clare's creativity peaked when she wrote The Infernal Devices and The Dark Artifices? yes
will I in spite of some characters being shallow and repetitive and the plot a mere repetition of other stories keep on reading every new trilogy she publishes? also yes
but love is not always a lightning bolt, is it? sometimes it is a creeping vine. it grows slowly until suddenly it is all that there is in the world.
