"There's no shame in loving someone with all your heart, Elena, but that love must be mutual. If you end up giving more of yourself than you get back, you'll end up a shell of yourself, depleted, like I was."

This is where I say Booktok made me read this. Am I disappointed? A bit. Did I enjoy reading it? Hmm, just quite.

The short chapters are the reason I ended up finishing this story. The plot is okay, cliche, but bearable because of the female lead. I don't like the writing style very much, it's kinda amateurish for me. It's like reading an unedited Wattpad story, and sorry, not sorry, but some Wattpad stories are better than this.

Some smut scenes made me cringe because of the male lead's lines, they're repetitive and exhausting to read. The saving grace of this story is Elena, she's headstrong and resilient, and she deserves all the love in the world for sacrificing everything she has for her mother. And don't make me start with Alexander/Alec. The guy is one of the most indecisive male leads I've read, and no, I tried to love him, but NO, he's a walking red flag, and his groveling at the end isn't enough.

Would I recommend it? Maybe.
Would I re-read it again? Definitely not.
