Birds of Prey, Volume 2: Your Kiss Might Kill by Duane Swierczynski

2.0

maybe this works as part of a series, idk, but as a volume it's just... bad.

you introduce the
husband murder
plot on the first issue and then it just. goes away completely until the literal last page, so it just feels like a dropped plot thread.

i'm like 99% sure the second issue was some kind of event tie-in, which is fun when you're following the event in real time, but you take it out and put it in a volume and it's like, ok, why are we wasting time with this.

the whole poison ivy goes rogue cause she's dying plotline was alright? the heroes were sooo pressed about lightly threatening some absolute scumbag billionaires, eternal eyeroll, plus it felt like it was over too fast, like she turned them into hostages at the end of one issue, at the end of the next issue she was dead. i feel like it wouldve been an interesting scenario to explore longer.

also, this was the first book ive read with starling and she's just. annoying. like mcu darcy as a superspy but with none of the charm. the rest of the characters' writing was also just sort of meh
