One of Us Is Next by Karen M. McManus

Try-to-be-surprised challenge.

The first one was cool because the ending was unexpected. I didn't care about the characters and their high school drama (However, I understand that's for others to enjoy, as the target audience of the series is much younger than me), but I thought the mystery aspect was solid.

In this sequel, I still don't care about the characters PLUS there's no mystery. You can see everything that'll happen from a mile away. The way some things are revealed gave me the feeling that wasn't the author's intention - after all, who wants to spoil their own mystery? She probably did want some reveals to at least surprise us, if not wow us. But the clues were so heavy-handed, there were no twists, there were barely any red herrings... I don't think I've read a more predictable murder mystery in my life.
