Severed Souls by Terry Goodkind

4.0

I've read all of Goodkind's work up to this point. I plan to read the two more recent releases as well. But I have noticed a drop off in how much I enjoy the stories of Richard and Kahlan. I think the fact that, in the stories, it has only been a couple of years since Richard left his home, a thin, young woodsman, is lost or forgotten. He now comes off as a superhero holier than thou type. I liked the books better when he was modest and simple. I see that the ordeals have changed him but he is almost invincible now, which makes things less interesting. Many of the characters we lived are gone and replaced with new ones who are not fleshed out quite as well. The plots are fine, but I miss the old settings and epic sweeping story arc. I feel like it'd be a good time for Goodkind to start over with new characters in a different time period. Maybe tell the tales of other Seekers.
Also, is it just me, or is everything explained to death?
