I AM PILGRIM by Terry Hayes

700 pages of ups and downs, twists and turns, and complicated action that you won't be able to put down. Truly a MUST READ for any lover of suspense.

In Terry Hayes' debut "Pilgrim" tracks a terrorist all across the world, but the story starts with a gruesome murder mystery in New York City. The victim is found with every trace of her identity destroyed; her body face-down in a tub full of acid, teeth pulled, fingerprints removed. Readers learn all about the retired spy who is called in to work on the case and are taken from New York City through Europe and the Middle East.

At times, I AM PILGRIM was difficult to follow. There were several things happening - both past and present - and it was a bit confusing for me to see how they fit into the storyline. In the end, Hayes did a great job of tying it all together so that all of my questions were answered.

I'm not usually a fan of spy thrillers, but I found myself drawn in to I AM PILGRIM by the characters. A young man who witnesses the beheading of his father. A retired NYPD cop that was a 9/11 hero. A retired spy specialist that can't quite walk away.

Being released tomorrow (May 27, 2014) this book would make an awesome gift for Father's Day!
