For the wolf

Dark New Adult Fantasy about bargains made with the magical Wilderwood forest. The First Daughter is for the Throne, The Second daughter is for the Wolf, and the Wolf is for the Wilderwood.

When Red is sacrificed, she expects to find a forest full of terrors and a vicious wolf who wants her dead. Only half of that turns out to be true, and Mr. Tall Dark and Handsome, king of consent, Wolf ticks every box for a bookish love interest (his library scent, like paper and coffee with ink stained fingers on his brutish scarred hands- is that just my dream man?), and the slow burn is worth. it.
(oh and there's the one bed trope if that's your thing)

When Red's twin sister Neve struggles to find a way to save her and bring her home, Red finds her new home is in trouble, she fights to save it along with all the people she loves from the dark evil of the Shadowlands.

Red is so relatable to me: "she'd read most everything in the Palace library, some things twice. It was one of the few ways to sooth her mind..." (page 39)

I think the key concept of this book is choice:

Neve and Arick make choices to deal with the shadows to bring Red home, Eammon gives Red the choice to stay in the Wilderwood or return home, Red has to make the choice of where her heart belongs and what she will give to follow it
, the different kinds of love, and how even the best intentions can drive you to darkness.

Writing is exceptional, with small phrase like lace, beautifully bringing the story together
-> for example: instead of saying she waited a moment, Whitten writes "Five heartbeats, six." (page 219)
