it took me a moment to formulate thoughts because this book is a harrowing traumatic experience ?!
i think the best part of this book was the characterization of these well-known wonderland characters before they really became the queen of hearts or the mad hatter, for example. and jest & cath were just amazingly written, to the point where i was short of breath every time they did anything. i so enjoyed how whimsical the characters were.
as for the rest of the book, the easy descriptions of the setting and the conflicts of the world enhanced everything for me. the only reason why i’d put this at ~4.5 stars is because the ending was maybe a little bit rushed, but that also contributed to the feeling of madness and chaos.
anyways i know i’m super late to reading heartless but i enjoyed it immensely and am still in mourning
