Being Mary Bennet
by JC Peterson
medium-paced
the MC was quite annoying to the point of almost unbearable for the majority of the book. I know she's a teen and has a lot of issues with her family (many issues being totally understandable) but dang.
I think this sounded better in theory than in execution because I did like the concept of the story enough to finish it. most of the characters were unlikeable or frustrating to me. the friend was def my favorite character tho.
also will say what the mom says can be low-key triggering as she focuses a lot on weight/body image/outward appearances (and in general is an emotionally abusive parent so be aware of that)

Moderate: Body shaming, Bullying, Child death, Death, Emotional abuse, Fatphobia, Medical content, Grief, Pregnancy, Toxic friendship, Alcohol, Injury/Injury detail
