Anne of the Island by L.M. Montgomery
Probably the least episodic of the first three Anne books, as we see Anne during her college years. There are plenty of amusing stories, but it’s more concerned with Anne making new friends, conquering her college studies, and finally finally realizing her feelings for Gilbert Blythe. This angle is probably why this volume stands out for me, along with the first, among all the volumes in the series.
