'Colorado Fire' is book two in Sara York's super exciting series 'Colorado Heart' that revolves around ex-military who now work for the CIA and run missions the majority of the American government has no clue about. These guys all live on a ranch in Colorado, Wild Bluff, and when they aren't gone on a mission they work the ranch as cowboys. It's a fascinating premise and I think the author has done a good job with it.
This book started off right in the action, with Grant being overseas trying to track down his ex-partner, Craig, and get a handle on what he's really involved with so they can take him down if needed. The whole situation doesn't bode well regarding Craig, certainly not after the guys tracked down information showing that Craig left the CIA's employ and the ranch, and immediately began working with a terrorist organization. So, Grant is trying to track down the man he thought he'd have a future with, while Roger is back at the ranch. Those two have got to get their groove on. I did feel bad for Grant because every time he turns around he discovers how much Craig lied to him and it makes Grant really doubt himself.
Marshal is feeling seriously burned out and starting to wonder if he doesn't need time away. The fact that his thoughts about his best friend, Zander, have begun to change recently probably isn't helping the situation. What Marshal doesn't know is that Zander has the same feelings for him, and when they discover them, well, there should be a warning label for what these two guys get up to. Pun intended. Of course, Marshal goes through a bit of the back and forth until he and Zander have the heart-to-heart and agree to try being together in a relationship.
The ending was exciting although a tad predictable. The author has opened up a possible love interest for another of the men on the ranch so it'll be interesting to see if that's the direction she takes. If you like a story with more than one romance storyline, and some intrigue, then this series might be for you.
