I liked the format of having short stories about all different kinds of people, different themes, different locations, were used to build this bigger picture of a world that has been completely changed by this plague. We see it from the start way up to many generations after a cure has been developed. How it still is affecting families, neighborhoods, humanity as a whole. It's very reflective of I think the human experience as a whole.
On top of that, a lot of the stories I found to be very good. In particular the one about the mother and her dying son at the theme park, a scientist having to watch her friend decompose as an experiment as she writes letter to his still living sister as if she is writing to the deceased brother, and the story of a man working with a dying woman to try and preserve her tattoos after she passes really stuck with me. Such a unique book and yet so, so human.
